Justin Bieber won't be doing any live interviews as he heads out on a media blitz in New York, promoting his new single. It's been two years since the Biebs went on tour, and reps are running interference ahead of time to ensure he doesn't say anything to mar his new "good boy" image.

Any interviews that fans see or hear in the coming weeks will feature Justin Bieber via previously-taped footage.

“Justin’s people are so terrified of him speaking live, they’re doing everything pretaped,” a source tells Page Six.

Justin Bieber is also taping The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon while in NYC, to air on September 2nd. He’ll perform on MTV’s VMAs on Sunday, and sources close to the former Selena Gomez love interest say he’ll also perform on the Today concert series on September 10th.

Justin Bieber started out strong and held his popularity as a nice kid who made it big--for a while, anyway. His romance with Selena Gomez made news on a daily basis, with fans nicknaming the couple "Jelena." Then he started acting like a thug--hanging out with unsavory rappers, accosting his neighbors by throwing eggs at their home, getting arrested for DUI, and a long list of other small crimes and ill-mannered actions. Selena Gomez dumped him, and life spiraled downward--and fast, too.

Justin Bieber has apologized publicly a number of times for his past actions, but fans--and their parents--are likely waiting to see if his actions meet his words.

Do you think Justin's reps are making a sound decision by only allowing pre-taped interviews as the Biebs goes back out on a promo tour this time around?

Does Justin Bieber have what it takes to make a big comeback--both musically and with regard to his behavior?

Do you think there's any chance that Selena Gomez will take him back if his new image sticks? They really were a very sweet couple.
