June Shannon: History of Dating Sex Offenders

  • June Shannon–better known as ‘Mama June’ on the cancelled TLC show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo–admits she has dated not just one, but rather two sex offenders. She says she isn’t presently in a relationship with convicted child molester Mark McDaniel, but says she was romantically involved with another sex offender–Michael Anthony Ford, many years ago.

Mama June did an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this week. She claimed that daughters Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Shannon and Jessica ‘Chubbs’ Shannon were both fathered by Michael Anthony Ford. Ford was convicted of sexual exploitation of minors. He was caught on a 2005 episode of NBC’s To Catch a Predator.

June Shannon claims she ‘is done’ with Mark McDaniel. She spoke with Dr. Phil McGraw during an interview that will air on Monday, November 17th, and had the following to say of the man who molested her eldest daughter, Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell when she was just eight years old.

“He’s moved on, he’s got a girlfriend and it’s not me,” she told Dr. Phil.

And even though there is photographic proof that Shannon has brought her children around McDaniel recently, she claims otherwise.

“I would never take my child around someone like that,” she said to Dr. Phil.

TLC cancelled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo after word of June Shannon’s association with Mark McDaniel was made known publicly. She and costar Mike ‘Sugar Bear’ Thompson called it quits, too.

“He cheated, he hurt me a lot. I am not in love with him,” she said.

Mama June is definitely ready for everyone to stop talking about her and convicted sex offender Mark McDaniel.

“I have nothing to hide, I have nothing to lose,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I just want, honestly, to tell my side of the story and let’s move on.”

That’s all well and good, but when sex offenders are exposed to one’s children, that doesn’t just drift away in the breeze. June Shannon will likely experience some fallout for her exceedingly bad judgment for a very long time to come. She’s probably very lucky that fallout is all she’s dealing with–at least for now.

Do you think Mama June Shannon is at risk of losing one of her two younger children because of her recent connection with this sex offender?
