Jim Parsons, star of the wildly popular Big Bang Theory, will host SNL on its first show following the Olympics on Saturday night March 1st. This will also mark the first episode of Saturday Night Live since long-timer Seth Myers’ departure. The musical guest for the evening is Beck.

Parsons is a virgin host for SNL but Beck is a return musical guest. He will be promoting his soon-to-be-released album, Morning Phase. This will be Beck’s seventh appearance on the late night comedy show.

Saturday Night Live is actively promoting the first show since the Sochi Olympics via Twitter. Fans are no doubt ready for something funny on TV. After two and a half weeks, reruns are getting old and those who aren’t sports fans have been relegated to TV Land or maybe even something worse. Some hearty belly laughs will do everyone some good.

There will definitely be a big void during the ‘Weekend Update’ segment with Seth Meyers gone. Cecily Strong will be joined by SNL head writer Colin Jost at the ‘Weekend Update’ desk on March 1st. Cecily has been co-anchoring along with Meyers throughout this season of the show. Seth will soon fill Jimmy Fallon’s spot on Late Night–the one he vacated to fill Jay Leno’s spot on The Tonight Show.

Jim Parsons should be an excellent fit for SNL. His first time hosting will no doubt portray him in a much different element from that of his Big Bang Theory Dr. Sheldon Cooper persona.

Will you be tuning in post Olympics to see Jim Parsons host, Beck sing, and Cecily Strong, Colin Jost, and more entertain with hilarity on a new episode of SNL on March 1st?
