Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, made a special trip all the way from El Salvador recently to attend the wedding of a close family friend, and Jill and her family shared several photos from the gathering on Instagram.
Jill and Derick have had baby Israel with them on their mission trip, but brought him to Tennessee to witness the nuptials of Bringing Up Bates stars Michaela Bates and Brandon Keilen. Jill's sister Jana was actually one of Michaela's bridesmaids, and the large families mingled at the event during several photo ops. One picture shows Duggar matriarch Michelle spending time with Jill's son, who has been missed by the family while away on the mission trip.
Jill and Derick faced some backlash last month amid speculation that their Dillard Family Ministries was requesting donations as part of a scam, but were quickly verified by a spokesperson from the IRS.
After the TLC show that made the Duggars famous--19 Kids And Counting--was canceled following a sexual molestation scandal, Jill and sister Jessa gave an interview to Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly to clear the air, saying that they forgave their brother Josh Duggar long ago for abusing them when he was 14. However, the show's fanbase has been largely divided regarding whether Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar handled the situation correctly, and Josh Duggar has all but disappeared from the public eye after resigning from his position at the Family Research Council.
Jill and Jessa have long been rumored to be involved in a potential spinoff show for the network, but it remains to be seen whether the series will actually see the light of day. There is still a pretty large and loyal following for the younger Duggars, however, so the show might see some success if it focuses on the girls, who have both recently married and shared pregnancies on television.
“The show had begun to focus more and more on the next generation of Duggars anyway – mainly Jill and Jessa and their marriages and babies," a source said.
