Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johansson have Gone Psycho!
Jessica Biel will play Vera Miles in the film Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. The movie is about Hitchcock’s directorial struggle to make the psychological thriller a masterpiece.
The film was adapted from a book by Stephen Rebello with the same title. It was published in May 1990 and details the creation and evolution of the chilling classic.
Hitchcock took on the film’s adaptation partly as an experiment and it went on to become an international box-office success and classic.
Rebello researched the film by analyzing Hitchcock’s personal records and archives. He interviewed virtually every surviving cast and crew member in the late 80s.
Biel will stand as the woman to survive within Psycho while Johansson will be stabbed repeatedly during the steamy shower scene. The shower segment from the 1960s release is composed of more than 90 shots seen in 70 different camera angles. It took Hitchcock and his crew an entire week to film it. The entire film took only six weeks.
Anthony Hopkins stars as Hitchcock and Helen Mirren as his wife, Alma Reville.
The cast continues to grow: According to firstshowing.net Danny Huston, Michael Stuhlbarg, Toni Collette, Michael Wincott have all joined the film; Collette is playing Peggy Robertson, Hitchcock’s longtime assistant, while Stuhlbarg will play the director’s big time agent Lew Wasserman. Huston is playing Whitfield Cook, friend to the director’s wife, and Wincott is playing Ed Gein, the real killer upon which Psycho is actually based.
Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, will be directed by Sacha Gervasi and is scheduled to start filming later this year.
Rebello discussed his book on a radio interview with Tom Snyder in 1990.
