Jessa Duggar and Ben Accused of “Consummating” Marriage Before Reception

  • Jessa Duggar and new husband Ben Seewald have hardly been married a week and already there are rumors flying. There was plenty of ho-hum surrounding the couple before the ceremony, especially given the old-school courtship rules laid down by Jessa’s dad Jim Bob and the couple themselves.

    – No kissing until the wedding.
    – Only a 30-second side hug when Ben comes to visit.
    – Only a 30 -second side hug when Ben leaves.

“As far as our kids dating, we believe a lot of times if you’re alone with a person, it can create desires that can kind of get stirred up, and you don’t have any accountability, and [that] can lead to some hanky panky,” Jim Bob Duggar explained.

So they waited. Then came the wedding ceremony, Everyone was all a-twitter, waiting for the big First Kiss.

“I want my daughters to see what it looks like when a couple reserves their “first kiss” for at the altar,” gushed Halloween Truther Kirk Cameron. “Wow! This kind of moral excellence and purity is rare today.”

But then, the couple didn’t kiss then either! That’s must be some Super Purity.

“They wanted their very first kiss ever to be in private,” said officiating pastor Mike Schadt. “It was important to both of them.”

So all that purity talk lasted about a week. Now comes the rumor that the couple did not slip away privately to share a first kiss, but to get down to more sweaty business.

In a blog comment on a Christian discussion site, someone calling herself Mary claimed to have been in attendance at the wedding. “Mary” said that she saw Jessa’s sister Jinger’s reaction when she walked in on the newlyweds in the midst of hurriedly consummating the marriage.

“Jinger opened the door to get Jess for the reception,” Mary claimed. “She immediately closed the door with a look of shock on her face.”

“Mary” went on to complain, “I am not sure why they would not wait for the evening to pray and then consummate God’s marriage.”

The entire story should be taken with the same nugget of salt that most “insider” claims are. Another commenter using the name “Gloryana West” offered some tacit corroboration of “Mary’s” story.

“I did not see Jinger’s face at the time but my daughter did see and she was very upset by what they had done. My daughter told me that they had been “feeling” each other, some time later after a something questioning, my daughter informed me that Jessa was caressing Ben’s ‘area’ and Ben had his hands on her breasts and buttocks. I do not know for sure if this is true, I would pray that my daughter would not lie to me. Now knowing that you too have heard what had happened, I believe my daughter may be telling the truth.”

The comments did stir some discussion and side-taking on the blog.

“They’re married, they waited, if they want to get in a quickie on which they’ve been waiting for a long time, I say have at it and love each other, the Lord, and life! Jinger should have knocked, or better yet, not disturb the newlyweds!”

Another anonymous commenter took “Mary” to task for recounting the tale. She offered a strange penalty for her behavior, apparently to be administered by Mary’s husband.

“Mary, your comments have been all over the internet and I felt compelled to come here and tell you, as a Christian, I am shocked at your behavior. You have done nothing but gossip about these two MARRIED individuals. Maybe your husband should jab YOU in the ribs right now! Christians dont act the way you are right now. You sound like nothing more than someone trying to stir up drama!”

And then there was my favorite comment of all.

    “Save the clock tower!”

Oh, here are the happy couple. No word as to when in the timeline this took place.

It's great living life with your best friend! @ben_seewald
