  • Remember when we were instructed by “Jenny from the Block” to not be fooled by the rocks? According to a new memoir by actress Rosie Perez, there may have been a good reason for it. The two women have been feuding for some time, and now Perez intends to dish on how it all began.

The New York Post shared juicy excerpts from Perez’s book, which at least provide us with her half of the explanation for why the two New York natives don’t get along.

Lopez and Perez, met back in 1991. Rosie Perez was a choreographer for “In Living Color” and Jennifer Lopez arrived to audition as a “Fly Girl” dancer.

Lopez credits her fame to show creator and host Keenan Ivory Wayans. However, Perez stated that Wayans found Lopez to be “chubby and corny” and implied that if not for interceding on behalf of Lopez, she would not have gotten the job.

It was also stated by Perez that Lopez’s first big break only came after a haircut and dropping roughly twenty pounds.

The Brooklyn-native didn’t stop there, adding that Bronx-native Lopez quickly revealed herself to be “a diva” and single-minded backstabber.

“All of the girls were coming into my office complaining how she was manipulating wardrobe, makeup, and me, all to her advantage,” Lopez rejected the accusations made by the other girls, saying that they were all just “jealous” of her talent and ambition.

Perez stated that Lopez actually went off on her, behaving in her words like “some ghetto biatch, screaming and pounding her chest!”

She alleged that Lopez ranted that Perez was singling her out unfairly.

“You pick on me, me and only me, every f–king day! Every f–king day! I work my ass off, deliver and you keep pushing me aside, treating me like sh-t! I know I’m good! I’m better than any of these girls, and you know it!”
Lopez would leave the show after two seasons, but she eventually made her opinions about Perez’s alleged treatment of her well known once she established herself in Hollywood.

Perez claims that she was “blindsided” by Lopez’s remarks.

“I’d thought we were cool. I called her up. She wouldn’t pick up. Frustrated, I left her an irate message on her answering machine. Instead of calling me back and hashing it out like friends do, she went on a major talk show and reiterated my lashing.”

Is Jennifer Lopez a self-centered ego maniac or is Rosie Perez just spiteful and jealous?

The only people who know for certain are the two women at the center of this feud. One thing is certain, if Lopez loves to speak out about Perez in the manner stated in the book, we can expect to hear a rebuttal from Lopez sooner rather than later.
