  • Jennifer Alfonso, a 26-year old wife and mother from Miami, Florida, was killed by her husband on Thursday morning; minutes later, he posted a confession to Facebook along with a startling photo of her dead body. Now, he’s been charged with first-degree murder, and friends and family want answers.

According to 31-year old suspect Derek Medina, he and Alfonso were fighting when it escalated; he even took out a gun and pointed it at her. At that point, she left the room, but he followed her and found her armed with a knife. When she told him she was leaving him and began punching him, he shot her.

The Facebook post was chilling, a haunting confession seen by many of the couple’s friends before Facebook intervened and took it down.

“I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys take care Facebook people you will see me in the news my wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me,” the post said.

The photo Medina posted showed Alfonso slumped over with a bloodied face. Police say when they arrived at the scene, they found Alfonso’s 10-year old daughter at her mother’s side. The girl was unharmed.

Facebook reps say they took action after they discovered the post.

“The content was reported to us,” the spokeswoman said. “We took action on the profile – removing the content and disabling the profile, and we reached out to law enforcement. We take action on all content that violates our terms, which are clearly laid out on our site.”
