Jay Cutler, who went down with an injury in week 7, will be returning to play on Sunday, after missing only two games. He suffered a groin injury in a week 7 loss to the Washington Redskins, and it was previously stated that he would be out for at least four weeks.

Since Cutler left the game during their loss, the Bears have been forced to turn to their backup Josh McCown. Fortunately for the Bears, Jay Cutler got injured at the best possible time, when they were heading into the bye week.

Their previous game featured a win against a Green Bay Packers team that was without their quarterback Aaron Rodgers, after he got injured on the first drive of the game.

As they get ready to face the Detroit Lions, a very tough defensive team, with Jay Cutler cleared to play, he will need to have a big game in order to get the win. The first time that the two teams met earlier this season, the Lions won 40-32 in an offensive shootout.

However, the last time that the division rivals played in Solider Field, where Sunday’s game will be held, the Bears won in a defensive game 13-7.

The coach of the Chicago Bears, Marc Trestman, has said that Jay Culter has been cleared to play, and will likely start in the Lions game. He is excited to have his quarterback back so soon, and Jay Cutler seems to already be full healed saying “If I wasn’t 100 percent … I wouldn’t have been practicing today. Once you get in the game, it’s reactionary stuff. We tried to mimic that. I feel ready.”

For Detroit’s sake, they should hope that they can count on their star players and put up points the way they did earlier this season. Often times, the Bears being at home can be dangerous for the Lions, and especially with Jay Cutler cleared to play, since the Lions have not won on the road against Cutler since he became the Bears’ quarterback. However, they did force him to turn the ball over 4 times during their meeting on September 29.

Although Jay Cutler has been cleared to play, until Sunday no one will know just the type of condition that he is in, and whether he will be able to handle the defensive front of the Detroit Lions led by the aggressive Ndamukong Suh.
