Music legend James Taylor is known for many things; his rhythmic voice, impressive guitar skills, and now added to the list is his incorrect start to the “National Anthem.” The 55-year-old began singing “America the Beautiful” instead of “The Star Spangled Banner,” during Game 2 of the World Series, which took place at the world renowned Fenway Park.

The soothing voice for the Hall of Fame honoree, was able to maneuver the mistake with grace. James Taylor, who has won five Grammy awards, proved that even legends make mistakes.

Chris Cuomo from CNN shared his views through a tweet, “Best save in singing national anthem: James Taylor tonight during #WorldSeries.”

James Taylor may have hoped that the miss would go under the radar; however, Twitter is buzzing with the news.

Singing the “National Anthem” at Boston’s Fenway Park sounds intimidating enough, but to recover quickly from any type of misstep would take a legend to pull off so effortlessles. As many have already commented, only James Taylor could make a mistake sound that great.

Twitter is the worst thing known to man. I sure hope this fad fades out. I always wondered what it would be like to read people’s minds — to know what they are thinking. Well, twitter is the closest thing to that and I am so glad that I don’t have that super power because half the things people think about are stupid as hell.

Amen to that!I couldn’t agree more!

    Oh brother!!!

This is so typical of the Lefty, hand-wringer celebs. He got an opportunity that only a small number of people get yearly, to sing the National Anthem, at a nationally televised event. Hell, even Jose’Feliciano KNEW the words!

He took a LOT of heat for his ‘version’ of the anthem, but he DID know the &*^#$% words.

Yo, JT, go BACK to UNC, your village of Chapel Hill, is missing their idiot! Or at a minimum, they’re one idiot short, go home!

Nice reporting… Specially since being born in 1948, that makes JT 65, NOT a “rhythmic voiced” 55 !!!

    • KAS

That is exactly what I was thinking. This guy is OLDER than me how could he be 55?

Leave the guy alone already, this cat has more class than most.

(1)- Twitter is for the birds (the Dodos, specifically – take a look at our ‘tweeting’Congressmen!)

(2)- James Taylor is a consumate professional who recovered, instantly and gracefully, from a misstep and with no change in the quality of performance. We’ll see how Mary J does tonight!

  • BirdnestsoupB

At least Jimmy did not JAZZ up the words like the night before.

James Taylor holds more talent than any of the new fad Myley, Beiber,
Kanye trash that we are subjected to daily.
    Good job Mr. Taylor.

Wish America the Beautiful WAS the National Anthem now. The Star Spangle Banner sounds like it glorifies War and ought to be retired.. America the Beautiful glorifies brotherhood of man and the beauty of our Country. I say it was a heartfelt & natural mistake. I love this handyman and I hate he and Carly split. What a great pair they made.

I agree with Kurt Vonnegut about the SSB. He called it “A bunch of gibberish sprinkled with question marks.” Spot on, and I’d ad, more warlike stuff from the USA. I much more like A the B.

wow James is human? listening to him sing I would have never guessed.
