IT Spending Heading Up

Forrester Researchpublished a recent study in which they surveyed nearly 1000 IT executives. Their research concluded that IT execs will spend 4.3% more in the coming year. 53% of those surveyed expect an increase in IT budgets and 7% see a decrease.

InformationWeek quoted Forrester senior analyst Michael Speyer in the report cautioning companies not to read to much into the numbers because “survey takers might not be aware of all the IT spending plans for units within companies with decentralized IT organizations.”

In InformationWeek, he said:

“We could read anything into these numbers,” says Speyer , who wouldn’t speculate why he thought these vendors’ customers will increase IT budgets next year. “What these numbers reveal is tantalizing, but what they hide is vital.”
