Last month Julianne Hough sparked controversy after arriving at a Halloween party wearing blackface make-up. Hough's friend and fellow actress, Isla Fisher, says she tried to warn Hough to wipe off the make-up before the paparazzi swarmed her.
"Isla told Julianne to go to the bathroom and wipe her face off," a source told Us Weekly. "Isla hoped she got to Julianne before photos were taken."
Hough and a group of her close friends had decided that they were going to dress up as the characters from "Orange is the New Black" for the Halloween party on October 25. Hough arrived dressed as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, who is played by actress, Uzo Aduba. She completed her look with an orange jump suit, hair tied up on her head, and her face covered in dark make-up.
After receiving backlash for her costume, she took to Twitter to apologize to anyone who she had offended.
"I am a huge fan of the show 'Orange is the New Black,' actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created," she tweeted. "It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."

Hough has not commented on Fisher's alleged intervention, however her rep has denied that she tried to help her.
