Among plenty of other things, Apple announced today that iOS 6 will launch on September 19th, just in time for the September 21st release date of the iPhone 5. More on all of the iPhone 5 details here.

iOS 6 has over 200 new features, compared to iOS 5. You’ve heard about all of this already, but it includes things like new Facebook integration, Passbook, new Apple Maps, etc. See all of our iOS 6 coverage, dating back to its announcement here.

The next version of Apple’s operating system was first unveiled at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June. Later that month, the company released a second beta version to developers.

They really pushed the Facebook integration at today’s event. The new iTunes for iOS actually comes with a Facebook like button. This also comes out on the 19th.

In addition to the iPhone 5, iOS 6 is coming to the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, New iPad, iPad 2, and iPod Touch (4th and 5th generation).

More from today’s Apple event here.

Apple should stop releasing iOS 6 now, because they do nothing for millions of iPhone 4 users arround the world. Most of the people’s of third world countries don’t have iPhone 4S, they have iPhone 4. They just try to increase the sales of iPhone 4S and IPad. It could be a marketing strategy, but it must fail in the long run

Perhaps grammatical errors should be a point of discussion.

      dear Jacob,

People in 3rd world countries do not have an Iphone 4 or even 3. They generally don’t have smartphones, let alone they have phones. What do you think 3rd world countries are, England and Germany?

      Dear hannan

What is third world countries stop racism and don’t compare. It depends on how one can afford. And how the products are marketed with the data plan on contracts. Many country don’t do this coz there are risk factors involved.
Most of us are eagerly waiting for the software update.

ios6 is for the 5, 4s, 4, and 3gs. just not the 3. way to go getting the facts correct wow

Excuse me Mr Hannan, the priority for developin nations should be feeding their families, not having the latest electronics. And for those in developing countries that can indeed afford it, the market is so acute as compared to that in say the United States.

Guys. If you dont know the facts dont talk about it. I stay in sourh africa and almost every second person has a 4s, and cannot wait for iPhone 5 to come!! You would be surprised to what is going on in Africa. In the next 3 years, there will be more smartphone users in Africa, than any other place on earth!!

It’s nice to have dreams. But here in America, we try to get smart phones everyday. The US will always have more smart phones.
