Vanessa Fox Vanessa Fox, formerly of Google, now with Zillow.com discussed what SEO really is. Vanessa said "From a search engine perspective the goal that they have is that they just want to get people off the search page as fast as possible and get to the answer." If bloggers can make their blog the most relevant and useful as possible from a search engine perspective their blog will rank.

Stephan Spencer Stephan Spencer of Netconcepts spoke about incorporating tags. He said," Optimizing your title tag is extremely important and one of the most important on page factors. It really sets the keyword focus for the page." By optimizing the title tag independently of the post title your blog will be in a better position. You can incorporate synonyms and keep your post title at about seven or eight words.

Andy Beal Andy Beal of Marketing Pilgrim said he uses title tags to get RSS readers and later changes them for search engines.  Beal said, "Basically you have two audiences for post titles. The first audience is the clickthrough audience the people who are going to look at this through an RSS reader. These people are the people I want to entice to come to my site." Make the title enticing to attract readers.

Quick SEO Tips
Make your blog relevant and
useful so it will rank in search
    engines

Optimize your title tag
    independently from your blog
    title

After a couple of days
    change your title tag and
post title to optimize it for
    search engines

Have a good site design that
is well formatted and an easy
    to read "About Page"

After a day or two he said he would focus on the secondary audience and position his title for Google readers or people who will go to his site via a search engine. Beal said he changes his title tag and post title as well to optimize it for the search engines.

WebProNews spoke with Aaron Wall about how your blog can gain traction. Wall said, "Make it easy to be trustworthy by having a good sight design, having a site that is well formatted, have an about page that is easy to read and easy for the press to contact you." Also your blog should display past press exposure. Those things are signs of trust and will help your blog receive more exposure.

Search Engine Technologies

Becoming obsessed over the process of search engine technology is not the same as being INFORMED and RELEVANT to someone's search for info.

My $10 sites get 10K hits a day, not because I'm clever (which I'm not) but because I give away knowledge that is unavailable from the mainstream media, at any price.

It appears to me, an old fart, that technology is much to impressed with itself, and not looking at the results, effects and outcomes that ITS CLIENTS OBTAIN.

And surveys are no substitute for good service. Addlepaited foreign call centers are as good as nothing.

I trash 300 commercal spams every single day; and I continually swear I will not do business with ANY ANY ANY ANY on-line business --WHY?-- because they're all hat and no cattle :: ALL CLAIMS and no honest results.

There is NO integrity or truth or decency or reliability in on-line claims. Trash, trash, trash!

I'm here as a news service (for free, as a retired teacher concerned about the futures of my children) and what I see is frankly disallusioning and disgusting.

EMILY:

I concur nearly 100% with what you say from a teaching point of view.

I run a Local Rural Sustainable Tour Operator Business in the Caribbean Port City of Puerto Limon, Costa Rica.

Being a descendant of the late Marcus Garvey and a Local Autochthonous (have lived here from day 1) Hometown Boy should help me Market my Business Positively, right?

Just the opposite is happening in reality as the "flashy" Web Gurus try to discredit my site, even though the Search Engines love the great information we have for both our current and future customers to be.

The Controlled News Media in the USA-Post 911 Era is absolutely obsessed with discrediting anyone without their educational level, economic clout or a combination of both.

We have tons of real truthful evidence right on our site that is factual, up to the minute and should convince a reader within 5 minutes why we are their best bargain, as the Local Tour Operator knows where to go Safely, Securely and Interactively at a 20% lower cost than the Cruise Ship Companies or Major USA Travel Agencies offer (we are only 1/2 mile from the Terminal), but the "flashy" sites look more impressive and even though 40% of the total cost goes for purchasing fuel for the bus they are using, the "lemmings" continue to desire being frisked and deceived, rather than meeting true people from the Local Area.

Best wishes always,

DAVID CARNEGIE GOULBOURNE
