Google Building Enterprise Gmail?
A Google employee revealed to someone attending the Toronto Search Engine Strategies conference that Google has plans to launch an email product for the enterprise.
Discuss Gmail for the enterprise in WebProWorld.
Currently their email application, Gmail, is in beta testing with several thousand bloggers, Google employees, and friends of bloggers (every blogger got a gmail address and many had the ability to invite two or more people to join).
An enterprise Gmail solution is a good idea for Google, especially considering that 95% of their income is based on ad sales.
My source reported that Google employees are now all expected to use Gmail as their primary email application. He said that you're not viewed as a team player if you're not using Gmail, and that before they all just used Outlook.
This unverified information emerged during a conversation last night at the InterContinental Toronto Centre bar.
