Google AdSense In eMail?

By cloaking it may be possible now to serve AdSense ads directly into email, though the process is described as "tricky" in the DigitalPoint forum.

The AdSense terms and conditions don't say specifically that it's not ok to serve AdSense ads in email. They do say that you can't serve them into emails that have any pornographic or hate-related content.

Barry Schwarz, who advised that you "obtain approval from Google before trying this out," explained the practice quite simply: "create static pages with the exact copy of the email. Then serve up those Google AdSense ads as if they were from the Web but in the email."

For the record, Barry "won't be giving this one a shot."

Meanwhile WebMasterWorld forum members uncovered some interesting patents that Google's filed for recently, one of them for a method of serving AdSense ads directly to email.

I'm sure they can tell...

they must have fairly advanced tracking built into their code to catch people who click their own links, etc. They have URL channels which means they know what site a particular ad was clicked from. But what site is clicked from if the ad is in an email? None, so they would have a very strong suspicion if not know for sure if your ads are in emails... I would guess though they wouldn't come down too hard on emails that seemed to generate legit clicks. Still not going to try it though...
