Infant Motrin Recall Due To Potential Plastic Contamination Still In Effect

  • Infant Motrin is being recalled this week and Johnson & Johnson has voluntarily pulled 200,000 bottles off the shelves due to the risk of contamination by plastic particles. The company first issued a notice back in September about the recall and have said the recall is still in effect.

The medicine–concentrated drops in original berry flavor–carries lot numbers of DCB3T01, DDB4R01 and DDB4S01. McNeil Consumer Healthcare, which makes the drops, issued a statement saying the recalled items may not actually contain plastic but were made with the same lot of ibuprofen as another product which did test positive for PTFE, which is used for Teflon coating.

“The potential for adverse medical events related to the reason for this recall is not likely,” McNeil said.

The ibuprofen came from a third-party supplier, a company which has not been identified publicly. It is recommended that anyone with the recalled items at home dispose of them immediately; a call to 1-877-414-7709 will get consumers a refund.
