IBM Lenovo Deal Under Review

The Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States (CFIUS) is reviewing IBM’s recent deal with Chinese PC giant, Lenovo.

“IBM has filed the required legal notice with the Committee on Foreign Investments,” stated IBM spokesman Edward Barbini. “IBM is following all the normal and routine procedures in the review of this transaction.”

The Committee which includes the U.S. Treasury Department has not commented on the review.

“We do not comment on matters that may be under review by CFIUS,” said Treasury Department spokeswoman, Molly Millerwise.

According to a CNET article,

“An IBM representative said in an e-mail that the company is cooperating with all government agencies that must approve the deal.”

“IBM has filed the required legal notice with the Committee on Foreign Investments,” Ed Barbini, a company spokesman, wrote in the e-mail. “IBM is fully cooperating with all government agencies in their review of this transaction.”
