  1. I think we will see Google and others going to even greater lengths to keep track of peoples search habbits. Many users turn their “probes” off when they can but i think the search engines will find new ways to find out your interests any way they can. They need this info to give better targeting to advertisers and I expect to see more new ways to get the info, and also arguments about privacy will surely result. In 2011 more than ever, advertising will rule the net.

      Location springs to mind.

  2. A couple of days ago we talked about the libraries of content farms out there built to sell advertising. If the search world wants to track my habits…. Like I hate content farms when I am doing a search. If the Search Engine world wants to track my avoidance of a content farm library I will certainly accept it. So I would encourage the search engines to note my avoiding such pain in the tush so be it, I would like it.

  3. SEO is really a big market
    And continue to strengthen, growing

  4. Google and Bing will dominate . Local search will start being used more often so tracking the most popular places or businesses seem like a good idea for advertising.
Anyway they can find to track and target you whether it be social or business they will .
Advertising and money dictate . They find and/or make you more places to advertise and they make more money.Whatever becomes popular these 2 giants will invest their resources to try and bring up market share and the bottom line.Which is how it should be , i guess?.
Personally i don`t approve of tracking by search engines – maybe websites while you`re on their site but when you leave that should be it for their tracking too.
Custom apps sound like they might change the way a lot of people search but many will stay with what they are comfortable with and know already. Different apps will have different ways they search and this could be a problem for advertising .
This PC world is expanding so fast who knows what will happen – there could be a another FB or Twitter right around the corner and that will be the new place to do your search.
