Hayden Panettiere is back. The Nashville star recently opened up about her stay in a treatment center for postpartum depression. Now, in her second social media post since coming home, she debuts a new hairstyle, and the symbolic–as well as literal–meaning behind it.

Hayden Panettiere gave birth to daughter Kaya Evodokia 10 months ago. She struggled with postpartum depression daily before entering a treatment facility in October.

During a recent interview on Live! With Kelly and Michael, she opened up about her struggle.

“It’s something a lot of women experience. When [you’re told] about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child, I want to injure or hurt my child,’ I’ve never, ever had those feelings,” she shared. “Some women do. But you don’t realize how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that on. It’s something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal.”

Last week, Hayden Panettiere was spotted in public for the first time since leaving the treatment facility. She cheered on fiance Wladimir Klitcscko during a boxing match in Germany.

Panettiere’s Nashville costars have been a great support to the 26-year-old. Connie Britton recently spoke of her progress.

“We have connected, and I think she’s doing really well,” she told the Associated Press. “She’s right where she needs to be, and that’s really good, and we all support her in that.”

Hayden Panettiere appears to be making great strides in working through the postpartum depression that can be crippling to some women. Her new hairstyle looks adorable, and will hopefully remind her of the old life she has dealt with, and the exciting new one that lies ahead.
