  • After spending almost a year in a rehab facility for post-partum depression, actress Hayden Panettiere finally made an appearance last weekend.

The petite actress had previously sought professional help shortly after giving birth to her and boxer Wladimir Klitschko’s first child, Kaya, in December of last year.

Hayden Panettiere has always been vocal about her post-partum struggles in interviews, even addressing fellow women who are going through the same experience.

“Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal,” she said. On Saturday, the Nashville star surprised her husband by flying out to Dusseldorf, Germany to watch his World Heavyweight Championship match. Hayden Panettiere was in high spirits, gamely smiling for the camera and showing off the Ukrainian flag – which she draped around her shoulders – as she cheered her husband on.

Klitschko faced off against Tyson Fury, who defeated him to snag the WBA, WBO, and IBF word titles.

After getting engaged in October 2013 and announcing their pregnancy the following year, Hayden Panettiere gave birth to their daughter Kaya. She discussed her struggles with post-partum depression in several interviews including one held during an appearance in the talk show, Live with Kelly and Michael.

Due to her stint in rehab, Hayden Panettiere had to take a break from her acting duties on the musical drama series Nashville, in which she plays rising young country star Juliette Barnes. Her performance has garnered accolades from critics as well as a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 70th Golden Globe Awards.

A source close to Hayden Panettiere told Us Weekly that despite her husband’s loss, she was “excited” to be at his fight to support him. She is also said to be spending more quality time with her family over the holidays while she prepares to resume filming for Nashville in January.
