Google/Amazon Katrina Donation Link Doing Well

    September 2, 2005

In light of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, Google posted a link on their homepage that took users to an Amazon page where donations could be made.

By following this link:

Donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort

those who are concerned can donate as much as they feel is necessary. When I visited the page this morning, the total was around $1.8 million. It now measures at $3,530,375.07, almost a $2 million increase in less than 9 hours. There have also been 35377 donations made (as of this writing). Not only is Google displaying the link, but Amazon visitors are also greeted with request for donations as soon as the Amazon index page loads.

These efforts are entirely necessary and it is certainly nice to see the amount of charitable outpouring since Katrina struck. I encourage all of you to keep up the support.
