Google Updates Firefox Toolbar

Google has announced via a post in its blog an update to its useful toolbar for Firefox, and made all of its features available on that browser.

An update release by Google for its toolbar provides extra functionality that had been missing for users of the latest beta release of Firefox.

Google’s Firefox Toolbar project manager, Ben Lewis, provided the update via blog entry:

If you’ve been holding off on upgrading to Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 or Beta 2 because you’d miss out on great toolbar features like Suggest and Spell Check, then wait no more! The latest version of the Google Toolbar is fully compatible with the newest rev of Firefox.

When installing Firefox 1.5, all extensions and themes are disabled until the software determines they are compatible with Firefox, or newer compatible versions can be found online. In a similar vein, Google had to update the toolbar to account for changes in Firefox 1.5.

Perhaps the update will give Firefox a boost in its share of the browser market. It lost nearly ten percent of its share in September, yielding ground to Internet Explorer, Safari, and even Netscape’s browser.
