Google Update Video Search Engine

Google Video is now more search engine than video site as the search giant revamps it to include framing similar to how they present images on Google video.

Google Video Search

Google has been migrating and integrating its video offering to and with YouTube, videos from which dominate the search results.

A search for "funny" brings back all YouTube results on the first page, even though Google is supposed to pulling from several sources including Yahoo, MySpace, DailyMotion, MetaCafe, and Veoh, among others.

But that may be expected, as the top three sources combined, including Google Video itself, can’t match the number of videos on YouTube.

The GoogleOperatingSystem blog notes that Yahoo, Google, and MySpace can only offer 7.3 million videos together, compared with YouTube’s 42.5 million.

But it would be nice to see videos from competing sites better integrated into the results for more variety.

I agree with your comments on the number of videos shown on Google Video search. On personal experience I found over 90%videos from Youtube and even Google Video. There was hardly anything from Yahoo, Myspace or any other site. Which really made me wonder why I even went to Google. I normally search for videos on http://www.uvouch.com as it does a far better job in showing videos from other sites and does not give preferential treatment to one video site only. But its still understandable why google would do this as they would like to make money out of their 1.6 billion dollar investment asap. My personal suggestion, if anybody wants to search for videos from multiple sites, go to uvouch.com

    cheers
