Google Personalized Search More Personal

    September 26, 2005

The folks at Google continue to tweak Google Personalized Search. They now allow users to remove search results they aren’t interested in. The deal is you actually have to have personalized your information and be logged in.

A hat tip to SearchEngineWatch for this one. Right now, the ability to remove results remains in the test mode. It’s not available to everyone and it’s unknown when it might be available to everyone or even if the this option will be available for non-personalized search.

Nathan Weinberg reported in his blog, InsideGoogle some initial complications. He said he had some problems getting the new feature to work initially. In an update, he suggested that the reason may be tied to his browser of choice, Opera, because the problem didn’t occur in Windows.

He said he had never logged into his Google account through IE and as soon as he did, the problems seem to have dissappeared. He did express some dissatisfaction with the it because of the Opera/IE issue but like the feature overall.
