You’ve perhaps heard enough (or probably too much) from all the presidential candidates.  But Google News has released an interesting new feature that presents quotes when you search for some famous people’s names.

We’ll move away from American politics to provide an example.  Try Gordon Blair, if you want, and you’ll see the easy-to-agree-with statement "A stolen election would not be a democratic election at all."  Then click on the "Reuters South Africa" link to see the article from which the quote came, or click on Brown’s name to see more excerpts.

"Winston Churchill" doesn’t work, probably because of age.  For whatever reason, neither does any form of Prince Harry’s name.  Still, on the Google News Blog, Jack Hebert, Akash Nanavati, and Natasha Mohanty gave an idea of the new feature’s scope by writing, "You can now more easily keep track of what your favorite politician, actor or sports star is saying."

Also, "You can even search within their quotes for specific topics."

The feature’s likely to grow popular as the U.S. election season continues.  And in case anyone’s keeping track, the Googlers played fair by showing quotes from Clinton, McCain, and Obama in their introductory post.
