Google Maps In ASCII

Get the WebProNews Newsletter:

This is one of the cooler (albeit less useful) Google Maps mashups: ASCII Maps.

This mashup takes Google Maps and converts it into colored ASCII text. It can give you both regular map or satelite views, and you can choose which character it writes the map with. It is processor intensive, so be patient.

Some suggestions: Have a link to output the processed text as HTML, so someone could repost an ASCII view on their blog. Also, it would be better if the map used multiple types of characters, so as to better fit the shapes on the map. Still, a unique and fun way to look at the world.
