Google’s known for hiring people who can program in 12 languages while they’re bicycling in to work.  A new job listing, though, is looking for someone who’s less about software and more about nightsticks.

All right, that’s an exaggeration, but the company is indeed advertising for an "Investigator / Threat Analyst," and much of the position’s description is reminiscent of a sort of high-ranking police officer.  From "manage crises" to "[i]nvestigates possible violations of Google’s security/HR/Finance policies," this guy (or gal) will be busy.

He or she will also be seasoned.  Once again playing against its typical hiring practices, Google’s asking for someone with at least 10 years of experience.  And that’s on top of a bachelor’s degree, while further education "will be viewed favorably."

Of course, it remains to be seen who will actually be hired – Google might pick whatever qualified candidate has the widest smile.  Also, Barry Schwartz counters this somewhat serious information with an amusing picture of Homer Simpson; even everyone’s favorite search giant isn’t perfect.

The "Investigator / Threat Analyst" will supposedly be based in Irvine, California, about 400 miles from Mountain View.
