Google Gives SEO Advice to the World

Most of the Earth Now Gets Access to SEO Starter Guide

Google announced today that its SEO Starter Guide is now available in 40 languages. This covers 98% of the global Internet audience according to the company.

"We hope that webmasters around the world can use the guide to improve their sites’ crawlability and indexing in search engines," says Brandon Falls of Google’s Search Quality Team.

If you are unfamiliar with Google’s SEO Starter Guide, it is a "compact guide" that lists best practices according to Google that both teams within the company and external webmasters can use to improve the indexing of their sites.

SEO Starter Guide

The guide was announced back in November, focusing on areas like improving title and description meta tags, URL structure, site navigation, content creation, anchor text, etc.

Here’s the list of the languages it is now available in:

- Arabic
- Bulgarian
- Catalan
- Chinese (Simplified)
- Chinese (Traditional)
- Croatian
- Czech
- Danish
- Dutch
- English
- English (GB)
- Filipino
- Finnish
- French
- German
- Greek
- Hebrew
- Hindi
- Hungarian
- Indonesian
- Italian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Latvian
- Lithuanian
- Norwegian
- Polish
- Portuguese (BR)
- Portuguese (PT)
- Romanian
- Russian
- Serbian
- Slovak
- Slovenian
- Spanish
- Swedish
- Thai
- Turkish
- Ukrainian
- Vietnamese

You can get the download link for any of those languages here. If you want to make sure your site is ranking as well as it should be in Google, it’s probably not a bad idea to go over it and apply the advice to your site – particularly if you are new to the game.

The guide touched on naming your images with relevant titles but didn’t mention adding keywords, meta descriptions, titles, and captions to the images. All very important to SEO IMHO.

Thanks for sharing this. With all the seo “experts” selling their info. it would be an excellent choice to get the info. right from “The Horse’s Mouth.”

  12. Like it’s been easily predictable from long time ago, SEO is becoming kind of standard for all websites and blogs so that their findability is increased.

It’s a great step taken by Google to publish its set of instructions for having a better crawlable site. Now, it’s clear for everyone that SEO is an essential part of site creation.

If it does, you really need to start learning more about SEO.

Their guide is great by the way. It’s got all the basic stuff. Just shows SEO isn’t difficult. Never try to sell SEO to a webmaster. :)

Most of my clients get that glazed look in their eyes when you start talking SEO.
Sure, it’s something they want … but they don’t necessarily want to understand how it happens.
A bit like when I take my car to the mechanic, really!

Does anyone ever get the feeling you are playing by someone elses rules? Google took over the search game and we all follow, catering our lives to their “rules of moral site construction” but what happens when another takes the place of the internet police? OR Google blows up? 85% of my traffic is from google search results and it scares the hell out of me. They used to tell me not to put all my eggs in one basket? Some have learned this lesson from investing with houses and stocks and ended up with nothing. I think they have us all in the palm of their hand and the actual plan has not been carried out yet. Will we learn?

You can never have enough information on the best practices of SEO and getting something directly from Google is great, yes it’s basic and mainly for beginners but always a good place to start
