Google Express Gets Big Midwest Launch With A Bunch Of Stores

  • Google launched Google Shopping Express in 2013 as a local delivery service enabling people to get same-day delivery on some items. It initially launched in San Francisco with a handful of partners including Target, Walgreens, American Eagle, Staples, Toys R Us, and Office Depot.

It slowly expanded into a few other areas like San Jose, Los Angeles, and Manhattan before Google changed the name to Google Express last October and rolled it out to Chicago, Boston, and Washington D.C. At that time, they added 1-800-Flowers, Barnes & Noble, Nine West, PetSmart, Vitamin Shoppe, Sports Authority, and some others.

On Tuesday, Google launched Google Express to over 25 million more people with overnight delivery in the Midwest across Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Google Express GM Brian Elliott writes in a blog post:

Since launching Google Express just under two years ago, we’ve made many shoppers very happy, alongside our wonderful stores. Whether same-day in our seven metro areas or overnight in Northern California, it’s been a pleasure to see the service become part of people’s lives.

One thing is especially clear: people love saving time with us. That’s what we’re really about. Think back-to-school shopping that gives back those last moments of summer. Or family shopping that leaves more time for the family.

In the Midwest, Googl eExpress will offer delivery from Ace Hardware, Barnes & Noble, Costco, Fry’s Electronics, Kohl’s, L’Occitane en Provence, Moosejaw, PetSmart, Road Runner Sports, Staples, Toys “R” Us & Babies “R” Us, Treasure Island Foods, Ulta Beauty, The Vitamin Shoppe, Walgreens and Wrigleyville Sports.
