It may be the time of year at which people start counting their vacation days, but Google’s AdWords team isn’t exactly kicking off early.  The group has instead made some improvements to the month-old AdWords display ad builder and pushed the tool overseas.

In the interest of not wasting anyone’s time, we’ll start out with where the display ad builder is available: first America and Canada, now the UK and Ireland, too.  It seems that translation into non-English languages might be the main thing holding up a further expansion.

As for the upgrades, they’re detailed on the Inside AdWords blog.  With an image picker, "You can now choose from previously uploaded images when creating your ads," according to Emel Mutlu.  Real-time editing, meanwhile, will let you "[s]ee what your text and other customization edits look like, automatically — without having to click the ‘update preview’ button."

There’s also a more time-efficient way of seeing the available ad sizes, and a number of additional design templates.

Mutlu mentioned "an overwhelmingly positive response from our advertisers so far," so hopefully all of this will be helpful to you.  If it isn’t, well . . . some official display ad builder tips are supposed to be on the way, and at least those traditional days of non-work are approaching.

    ive just started using this tool for my own business, and its fairly quick to get up and running, there just needs to be some more templates supplied by the Adwords team to increase the number of templates.

    There are 3 pages of All purpose templates available for you to choose, but the pre-designed templates by industry are a little light in the offering.  Google Adwords team have shown which are their top 5 categories of advertiser by listing them: Entertainment/Media, Financial Services, Retail, Technology, travel.

    The other issue is the lack of information about reccommended image sizes when selecting an image to upload. 

    It is a really great tool, which makes rolling out dynamic display ads across the content network painless.

    I’ve noticed recently this tool in my account but I haven’t tested it so far
