It’s time for some routine maintenance on the AdWords and AdSense systems at Google, and users should still see their ads display as normal during the maintenance window.

There will be a maintenance period of about six hours beginning at 8 PM PT on December 30th, where Google will be performing some updates to their systems, the company announced on the blogs for both products.

“While all AdWords advertisements will continue to run as normal, you will not be able to perform any API operations during this maintenance period,” Patrick Chanezon posted at the AdWords blog.

“All your AdSense ads will still serve properly and all your stats and earnings will be recorded as usual. We’ll bring the site back up as soon as we can,” Rob at AdSense likewise wrote on AdSense’s blog.

Both posts note the work being done as system maintenance. Google will take advantage of the slower time of year to get this completed. In the past, when unscheduled outages happened, new services associated with Google’s advertising products began to operate when the system was restored. Could Google have a little something extra planned for its advertising users after systems come back online?
