George Zimmerman's girlfriend, 27-year old Samantha Scheibe, has reportedly asked that the felony domestic violence charges against him be dropped, saying she thinks the police misinterpreted what she'd said.
Scheibe called 911 in November, saying that Zimmerman was threatening her with a gun and was breaking her belongings in a fit of rage after an argument. She also reportedly told police that he had choked her the previous week, but didn't file charges. Zimmerman was arrested, banned from having weapons in his possession, and ordered to stay away from Scheibe. He was also ordered to wear a monitoring device after he posted $9,000 bail.
However, Scheibe has had a change of heart and says she wants the charges and order to stay away from her dropped, and now prosecutors may not be able to pursue a case.
"I want to be with George," Scheibe said in a sworn statement. "I do not want George Zimmerman charged. I make this decision freely, knowingly and voluntarily, without any intimidation coercion or undue influences. I believe that the police misinterpreted me and that I may have misspoken about certain facts in my statement to the police... George never pointed a gun at or toward my face in a threatening manner," she says. "Further, I request that the Seminole County State Attorney's Office not be allowed to harass me because I do not wish to take part in any prosecution of this case on behalf of the State."
It was initially reported that Scheibe was pregnant, which was why Zimmerman's charges were classified as a felony. However, she has not confirmed that rumor publicly.
