George Zimmerman Accused of Stealing Furniture

By: Lacy Langley - September 28, 2013

Lake Mary Police say that they were called by George Zimmerman’s mother-in-law to the home George and Shellie Zimmerman rented from Shellie’s parents, Machelle and David Dean on Thursday. Machelle reportedly accused George of stealing furniture from, and damaging, the home. Shellie Zimmerman was out of town Thursday when the alleged furniture theft took place.

Police spokesman Zach Hudson said George Zimmerman was supposed to vacate the house by Thursday, and when the Deans came by to inspect it, they found furniture and a television missing and unknown damage. “We have a complaint that there are some items missing from 300 Sprucewood,” said Hudson. “There was some damage to the house. Who committed that damage, I don’t know. Was it there before hand, I don’t know. We’re trying to figure out exactly what we have here.”

George Zimmerman has not been a stranger to run-ins with the law since his acquittal in the controversial trial in which he was accused of murdering unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin.

Twice since the end of the trial, Zimmerman has been pulled over for speeding.

A few days after Shellie filed for divorce, he was arrested and briefly taken into custody after she told police Zimmerman punched her father in the nose and smashed her iPad. She also said that he threatened her while putting his hand on his gun. All this allegedly took place at the same home that police were called to Thursday. Despite police saying they never saw or confiscated a gun at the scene, she stands by that story, she told Matt Lauer on the Today Show.

“I did not see a gun, but I saw — I know my husband. I saw him in a stance and a look in his eyes that I have never seen before,” she said. “His shirt was halfway unbuttoned and he was putting his hand in his shirt and saying, ‘Please step closer, please step closer,’ so I think that logically I assumed he had a gun on him.”

Shellie hopes to move on with her life after the divorce is final. Her attorney, Kelly Sims, who appeared with her on TODAY Thursday, said the divorce papers have been filed, but George has not been served with them because they don’t know where he is.

“(I’m) just focusing on myself,” she said. “I’ve lost 40 pounds since the trial. I’m really taking care of myself and moving forward with my life.”

I think Trayvon Martin did it. Isn’t it ironic that this guy gave those reasons for being a watch captain but won’t obey the law himself. Zimmerman may have been hating against himself when he stalked and shot Trayvon.

      Martin did what?

      • susan

I think what she meant was that George Z was having other problems in his personal life (that very night he and his wife had a big fight) and was in a bad mood so took it out on Trayvon. Very likely.

I think Mr. Zimmerman did the right thing when Martin attacked him. There has to be a stopping point when these low /no class types like Martin. Here in Ga we also have stand your ground laws and it has been used several times, sometimes right, sometimes wrongly. I am a military disabled vet that will stand my ground against any and all attacke as I pack a weapon at all times. America is not safe anymore. I have 26yrs in the military, with desert storm and enduring freedom along with VietNam being my first war experiance. You are more likely
to be killed/murdered here at home than in the wars I have fought and I refuse to be a statistic. George did us a favor in taking out the trash.

Unfortunately, you’re an idiot with a gun too! Your comments were not on the topic!

What does your experience in the military have to do with Stand Your Ground?

        I bet David was discharged.

If I’m minding my own business and some strange person who I do not recognize starts following me and then confronts me, I’ll pounce on him too and I’m a woman. Sick of these wannabe cops wanting all kinds of attention.

Hell hath no wrath like a woman scorned.

leave the man alone already a jury found him not guilty…. his wife lied about him having a gun I am sure this is another lie to get eyes off her and the whole scandal deal with the money she kept… that is my opinion but people need to leave him alone already quit trying to set him up because they don’t like the out come of the trial…

George Zimmerman is a Thug! He got away with murder and now he is having to live life like a prisoner because of what he did.

When you kill an unarmed kid who was minding his own business and continue to make stupid decisions after your acquittal, you deserve the negative attention.

    • susan

How can we leave him alone when he keeps putting himself on the front pages of the news with his antics. He likes being the center of attention or otherwise he would have laid low after his trial like Casey Anthony did. He is an accident waiting to happen.

We all know George is crazy. Anyone who cannot mind their own business and leave others alone is a person who is not right in the head. Many neighborhood watch people are like this and there are lots of people in society like this. You have people out there who set up people on the internet. People that they do not even know, never met, and don’t even live near. What kind of human being wakes up one day and says to themselves — I am going to set someone up and get them in trouble? A deranged lunatic does that. A self-righteous deranged lunatic that is doing more harm than they are doing good.

Even though this is the case, I think this woman is posturing for the divorce proceedings. She could see the potential money Zimmerman may make from book deals and movie deals — because you know they are coming.

If she really thought her husband was crazy, she had the responsibility to let people know before now. I guess it is possible she didn’t realize it before now —- I mean anything is possible, but really I don’t think so. All I know is that anyone who spies on their neighbors and patrols neighborhoods is a crazy and probably mentally ill. They are usually obsessive compulsive, self-righteous, and controlling. I mean really — how many of us out there really want to be “watched” by our neighbors. If crime is going to happen, it is going to happen regardless of a neighborhood watch or not.

The whole Martin-Zimmerman incident boils down to this: two idiots got into a confrontation and it escalated to the point where a person was killed. George should have never followed Martin and Martin should have just ignored George. But it doesn’t happen that way in life sometimes. Every fight I have ever seen, involved two idiots that were BOTH AT FAULT. Rarely, is there someone who is truly an innocent bystander.

Sometimes in life, being a true man means you walk away from things.

Now she doubts his innocence. If this were true she should have voiced her opinion earlier. Instead she waits until she’s angry with him.

Where is that big mouth brother of his coming to his defense for another blemish on his brother georges record?

  • Robert

Bullies remain bullies and will display their desire to control others under many circumstances. George will have things his way or use force to get what he wants. Sadly a common trait in the US today.

Oh, I think she also meant that she thinks Trayvon did pounce on GZ which is not really in dispute. It is whether or not he was protecting himself against GZ or not when he attacked him. We will never know since the only person alive to tell his side is GZ.
