I was pleasantly surprised to find a lengthy article in The Province newspaper (Vancouver) with the following headline:

” Geographic information systems poised to be the next big thing” – the article was a huge plug for the industry and focused on an interview with Ron Lake of Galdos Inc (also the organizer of next week’s GeoWeb conference which, by the way, has online reg. ending today).

From the article… “What has everyone excited is connecting those databases through the Internet to provide a new depth of information with the potential to save lives, safeguard resources and make commercial products more compelling.” There’s also much mention of Google earth, and Microsoft’s Virtual Earth in the piece.
