  • In you’re-not-just-the-worst-person-in-the-world-but-also-the-worst-social-media-user-in-history news, an 18-year-old has been arrested after stealing a piece of the wrecked Porsche from the crash that claimed the life of actor Paul Walker.

And in a shockingly daft (but totally unsurprising) move, the ill-timed memorabilia scout helped police make the arrest by posting a photo of stolen car part on Instagram. Oh yes he did.

As you can see, posting the photo wasn’t good enough. Jameson Witty decided to make it super easy on law enforcement by captioning the photo “pice of Paul Walkers car, took it off a tow truck at a stop light. It’s a good thing he tagged #paulwalker in the post, as that probably helped propel the confession into the flurry of Paul Walker posts that have inundated the internet since last Saturday night.

Maybe he figured nobody was really talking about Paul Walker.

    Either way, holy shit dude.

According to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station, Witty’s Instagram account of what happened it pretty accurate. They say that a witness spotted him lift the car part from a tow truck as it was stopped at a red light.

Witty didn’t act alone, and both he and his accomplice are facing charges of felony grand theft and tampering with evidence.
