  • Genie Francis is set to once again reprise her role as Laura Spencer on General Hospital. Fans are no doubt counting the days until Laura arrives back in Port Charles.

According to a report from People magazine, this isn’t the first time Genie Francis–who first appeared as Laura back in 1976–has returned to General Hospital. She last did a five-month stint on the show in 2013.

General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini shared the exciting news via Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.

“Genie is a part of our GH family, and the door has always been open for her to return when the timing and story are right,” Valentini told TVLine in a statement of Francis returning “in a few weeks.”

“Lucky for us,” he continued. “The stars have aligned and we are thrilled to welcome Genie back home.”

Genie Francis has played other soap opera roles over the years, in addition to that of Laura Spencer on General Hospital. She has appeared on Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, and All My Children, too.

General Hospital fans will see a fitter, trimmer Genie Francis when Laura Spencer returns to Port Charles. Since teaming up with Nutrisystem, the actress has shed 30 pounds and looks significantly younger than her 52 years.

Were you among those General Hospital fans who cried when Luke (played by Tony Geary) and Laura got married back in the 1980s? Then you’ll no doubt be counting the days until Genie Francis reprises her role on the daytime drama.
