  • Game of Thrones is about to make a big return, and in more ways than one.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the HBO network has inked a deal with the Australian pay television company Foxtel to stream the popular series exclusively. The agreement was implemented to draw attention to the company’s online and streaming platforms.

The publication reports that on Tuesday, Mar. 4, Foxtel CEO Richard Freudenstein announced details of the agreement.

He explained that the new season of the HBO series, which will be added as part of Foxtel’s premium drama channel showcase, would be available for non-subscribers through the company’s streaming service. This type of agreement is the first of its kind for Foxtel.

“Foxtel is committed to offering ever-improving access and availability to the entertainment our customers love. Game of Thrones is one of the most popular programs in the world, and is a favorite among Australian viewers,” Freudenstein said.

“Foxtel’s agreement with HBO means we can provide our customers with first-run access to Game of Thrones season 4, along with a great library of movies from the Foxtel Movies channels, which we’re thrilled to offer Foxtel Play customers at a special rate during season 4 of this landmark show.”

But, that’s not the only update where Game of Thrones is concerned. HBO has also announced that a Game of Thrones mixtape is also set to be released.

According to the network’s press releaseCatch The Throne: The Mixtape, which will include tracks from notable hip hop artists like Wale, Common, Big Boi, and Daddy Yankee, has been implemented to commemorate the upcoming season four premiere of the critically acclaimed series.

The press release explains that the 10-song mixtape, which features hip-hop and reggaeton music, is inspired by themes and storylines directly associated with the first three seasons of the series.

All of the songs on the mixtape actually contain samples and excerpts of music from the original scores. The network hopes to peak the interest of more viewers by drawing attention to the plot of the series through music.

“We are excited to create an additional fan touch point with Catch The Throne: The Mixtape,” says Lucinda Martinez, SVP of Multicultural Marketing at HBO. “This is a unique opportunity to give fans great original music and an  innovative way to highlight the electrifying ‘Game of Thrones’ series.”

The Game of Thrones season four premiere is set to air on Sunday, Apr. 6 at 9:00 ET on HBO.
