If you happen to find your way to a comic book store on Saturday, May 3, you may be lucky enough to get one.

It’s the 14th year for Free Comic Book Day and more than 2,000 stores will open their doors to comic fans and offer free comic books.

Over 4.6 million comic books will be given away on Free Comic Book Day and numerous comic book publishers have created new stories and characters that they plan to unveil on Saturday.

Comic book fans of all ages are anxiously looking forward to the day they can get their hands on some exclusive and free comic books.

Although most comic book fans will be looking for the classics, the publishers have also created many titles for kids including SpongeBob, and Hello Kitty.

“Free Comic Book Day is a perfect occasion for fans to discover new types of comic books,” said FCBD spokesperson Jason Blanchard, “especially if they’re new to the wide variety of titles that are being published today. On May 3rd, we encourage new and current readers to use Free Comic Book Day as an opportunity to learn about the great comic books and pop-culture merchandise to be found at their local comic book shop. Hopefully, they’ll walk away with free comics they can’t wait to read, and then keep coming back to their local shop for more!”

In addition to offering free comic books, many stores will also be offering door prizes, character signings, and special deals and sales.

You can find out which stores are participating in Free Comic Book Day on the Free Comic Book Day website. If you love comics, you won’t want to miss out on this special day.

What is your favorite comic book or comic book character and do you plan on being in line for a free comic on Free Comic Book Day?
