  • The Ford Escape recall scheduled begin on July 23rd will address some serious issues with the vehicle’s carpeting, according to Orlando Sentinel. Nearly 10,000 2013 Ford Escapes manufactured at the company’s Louisville, Kentucky plant between March 8th and June 7th are thought to be affected by this recall.

According to reports, carpet padding located near the center console trim panel has been mispositioned, which means that drivers could, in theory, hit the brake pedal when they’re attempting to remove their foot from the accelerator. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration believes the carpeting may result in increased stopping distances and potentially up the risk for crashes. That’s never a good thing.

8,226 vehicles will be recalled in the United States alone. The Associated Press received word from a Ford spokeswoman that approximately 2,000 vehicles will be recalled in Canada, as well as a few hundred in Mexico. At the time of this writing, no injuries or accidents have been reported as a result of the issue.

Consumers will not be charged for the correction.
