ESPN Graphic Typo Calls Roethlisberger A Drunk
Sometimes, in the heat of the moment, it’s easy to make an error which will later be construed as a colossal screw-up. ESPN is now apologizing for such an error after an unfortunate typo on their ticker.
The graphic labeled Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as “Drink And Drunk” on “Monday Night Countdown”, a term which was likely meant to be “dink and dunk” (a term which has been used to describe his playing style). For almost any other player, the mistake wouldn’t have been so glaring, but Roethlisberger has a history of alcohol abuse which landed him a four-game suspension a couple of years ago.
“Earlier in the show we had a graphic error in the rundown,” show host Chris Berman said. “We apologize for the mistake. Not sure how it happened. It won’t happen again.”
Berman is under fire for what some are calling a “vague” apology, and Twitter lit up like a Christmas tree after the incident.
