Emily Maynard, who gained fame on the reality show The Bachelorette, surprised friends and family on Saturday when the engagement party they showed up for turned out to be the actual wedding.

Maynard had everything set up to exchange nuptials with Tyler Johnson, whom she met at church. The couple arranged to have all the guests picked up and driven to Maynard’s family farm, where they were shocked to learn they were part of the big day.

Johnson surprised Maynard with a ring–five of them, actually, including stackable diamond bands–in January, and offered a ring to her 8-year old daughter, Ricky, to help her feel included. Ricky is Maynard’s child with her former fiance, who died in a plane crash in 2004.

“He proposed to me at home and gave both Ricki and me rings. It was so sweet! Ricki loves him more than she likes me!” Maynard said.

The couple reportedly met before Maynard began filming on The Bachelorette in 2012, and when she and fellow contestant Jeff Holm called off their engagement in October of that year, things got serious pretty quickly between them.

“We met at church. I think that’s why our relationship is so good now, because we started out as friends,” Maynard said of their relationship.
