  • Nearly 400,000 portable electrical heaters have been recalled by manufacturing company Dyson Inc.

The company has recalled roughly 55,000 in Canada and 338,000 in the United States. However, the recall has also reached worldwide in places like the UK.

The heaters have been listed as a fire hazard because they tend to overheat from a short circuit.

Eighty-two incidents involving the heater were reported. Some of the complaints detail how melted burnt parts were found inside the portable heaters.

Customers are advised to stop using the product and to return it back to the company immediately.

Dyson’s CEO Max Conze told customers in a statement the next steps to take in getting the issue fixed:

“We ask owners to visit www.dysonrecall.com to register their machine, which will be fixed, cleaned, serviced and returned to them, with a new two year parts and labor warranty, free of charge.”

Dyson’s website outlines the free-of-charge service they will offer to their customers:

Registration. We’ll send you a box for you to send your heater back to us. There are just three simple steps on this website to register your heater for the fix.

Collection, fix and service Once we’ve received your heater, we’ll fix it and also give it a free full service and clean.

Return and guarantee We’ll deliver it back to you, along with a new 2 year guarantee covering parts and labour.

The company has also reassured on their website that “there have been no instances of injury or property damage, but safety is [their] first priority.”

All recalled models-priced at approximately $400-were sold between September 2011 and March 2014. They include Dyson Hot heaters and Dyson Hot+Cool heaters with model numbers AM04 and AM05.

The company confirms that the heaters were available for purchase at retailers and online stores including, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Lowe’s, Sears, Target, Amazon, Dyson, and Walmart.
