Duck Dynasty Family Breaks Guinness Record, Releases Country EPBy: Amanda Crum - May 19, 2014
“Duck Dynasty” has become a runaway hit for A&E, with the Robertson family expanding their empire beyond duck calls to include all manner of merchandise and even moving into the music business.
Si Robertson released a 6-track EP on iTunes this week, Me And My Smoking Hot Honey, a collaboration with country singer Kix Brooks. Robertson said he had so much fun recording that he might trade in his current career for it.
“I’m gonna make this my new career choice. I had a blast!”
The family made headlines over the weekend when they hosted a Salvation Army of Southwest Florida fundraiser they called “The Call: Faith, Family & Facial Hair” at Germain Arena; family members Willie, Jase, Si, and Willie’s wife, Korie, Jase’s wife, Missy, and their three children — Reed, 19, Cole, 16, and Mia, 10, were in attendance for the benefit during which 4,000 people broke a record for the longest group duck call. The crowd was also treated to several musical performances in which the family were joined by The Farm and Switchfoot.
Several families were in attendance, with some parents saying they thought the Robertsons were good role models for their children. As for the reality stars, they say they have their problems like any other family; the important thing is how they solve them.
“In the end, we forgive each other and we gather around the table together and pray to an almighty God together,” Jase Robertson said.
10-year old Mia was a hit at the fundraiser, singing “This Little Light Of Mine” to the delight of the audience. Mia has had several surgeries to correct a cleft palate.
