Dita Von Teese Unveils Maternity Lingerie LineBy: Brian Powell - July 31, 2014
Dita Von Teese, real name Heather Sweet, made a name for herself by putting “the tease back into striptease” when she began her burlesque career in 1992. Since that time, Von Teese has led a revival of New Burlesque while becoming a sex icon throughout the world, posing for multiple fetish magazines and even gracing the cover of Playboy in 2002. As time has progressed, however, and Von Teese has grown older, she has quickly found another hobby replacing her days of being a burlesque entertainer. In 2012, Von Teese created her own clothing and lingerie line called Von Follies.
When Von Teese first started Von Follies, she stated that “It was important to me to accomplish the task of making these beautiful things in sizes that can make any woman feel sexy and glamorous, and I’m very proud that we have been able to do that, while keeping prices affordable.” In keeping with that goal of making any woman feel sexy and glamorous, Von Teese has unveiled a new line of sensuous lingerie, one targeted for new mothers.
The new line of maternity lingerie will be featured at DestinationMaternity.com and includes five nursing bras with clip-down tabs and detacable cups and three pair of waist-cinching underwear – the perfect tool to hold-in post-pregnancy stomachs.
In speaking on her new line of lingerie, Von Teese stated, “Elegant underpinnings are a simple way to create everyday moments of luxury and beauty, and why wouldn’t a new mother enjoy beautiful lingerie, too? The collection I created with Destination Maternity is designed to capture the spirit of retro glamour, while inspiring confidence and meeting the practical requirements and everyday needs of a new mother.”
The announcement comes quick on the heels of another business move by Von Teese in which she signed a deal with online retailer BareNecessities.com to sell her classic collection of Von Follies lingerie – a collection which covers virtually all sizes, ranging from an AA cup all the way to an E.
