  • Disney World is about to celebrate their 50th anniversary and as with most things the park does, the celebration will be huge and extravagant. One of the many things the park plans to do for their anniversary celebration is to have people across the world sing the park’s theme song, “It’s A Small World.”

“On Thursday, April 10, 2014, hundreds of voices from Disneyland Resort in California, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan, Disneyland Paris in France and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort will sing the unforgettable theme song of the ‘happiest cruise that ever sailed the seven seas,’ ” Disney Parks and Resorts said Friday.

Disney has even created a special website for their celebration. Visitors can record themselves singing the song and even choose which language they want to use to record or sing it. There will also be a singing competition on the website as well as other fun activities and games, including virtual dolls.

The Disney Company is also hoping to raise money via the site and donate it to the United Nations Children’s Fund. Disney will donate up to $100,000 to UNICEF for the total songs that get sung and dolls that are created on the celebration website.

Disney’s “It’s A Small World” ride is one of the most popular rides available. It is featured at all five Disney parks and has been ridden by more than 1 billion guests. Riders enjoy a relaxing boat ride while the song plays in the background. The boat passes through several areas of the world where small dolls or children dance while wearing clothing that is common in their culture.

If you want to join in on Disney’s 50th anniversary celebration, check out the website and create a doll and song of your own.
