When you think of the Discovery Channel you probably envision nature shows, Mythbusters, and the over-hyped Shark Week. Soon, the cable channel will trek into an unknown area, as they debut their first scripted mini-series.
The mini-series "Klondike" stars Richard Madden (Robb Stark from Game of Thrones) and Augustus Prew (Kick-Ass 2). The two will play life-long friends who find a fortune when they go digging for gold around Canada's Yukon. They then find themselves in the middle of the crazy cutthroat world of the 1890s gold rush.
You can read the shows official synopsis below:
"Klondike follows the lives of two childhood best friends, Bill and Epstein, in the late 1890s as they flock to the gold rush capital in the untamed Yukon Territory. This man-versus-nature tale places our heroes in a land full of undiscovered wealth, but ravaged by harsh conditions, unpredictable weather and desperate, dangerous characters including greedy businessmen, seductive courtesans and native tribes witnessing the destruction of their people and land by opportunistic entrepreneurs."
"Klondike" will also star Tim Roth, Sam Shepard, Abbie Cornish, and Tim Blake Nelson. The mini-series is slated for a January 2014 premiere.
