How much do you love your favorite online community? Your favorite social network? Your favorite social bookmarking site? Enough to buy a $5 wallet bottle opener? A $10 beer glass? How about a $185 laptop messenger bag?

digg is evidently pretty confident that its users will be interested in such digg-branded items. The bag, "1337 digg" shirts and boxer shorts are now available. I’m not sure how long the digg Shop has been around, but the "newly remodeled" version is up and running now.

Digg Tees

I’m curious to know how much revenue digg makes from these items that most companies would give away for free promotion at conferences and industry events. Perhaps this stuff is leftover from that.  If you know any die-hard digg fans, this should be a good place to buy some gifts for the holidays.

Don’t confuse it with DIGG Apparel though. I don’t know if there is any "digg" vs. "DIGG" rivalry. Shirts at the digg Shop are cheaper anyway. Although DIGG does throw in a free bracelet when you purchase your first t-shirt. I assume shipping charges apply to both sites.

DIGG Apparel

digg is calling upon the faithful community to contribute new ideas for digg merchandise that it can sell them. So if you have any t-shirt design concepts, post them in the comments on digg’s blog post.

Well Google denied the offer to buy Digg for millions a couple years back because they didn’t think they could monetize it very well, clearly this t-shirt business is a ploy to get Google to come back to the table ;)

That ought to do it :)

Even though I stopped watching digg quite a long time ago, digg clothes etc. are still "cool" in my book.  You can identify a fellow geek without the nerdy attachment…

    It’s like a macbook, it’s just cool.

It would be a lot cooler if they were free like most other promotional merchandise.
