One area you are missing to talk about Chris, is what is the “employee/independent contractor/blogger” relationship with Demand.

    1. Are the bloggers getting paid what Demand says they pay?
    2. Are these so-called “EDITORS” actually giving feedback to the bloggers? or are they just meeting a deadline & a quota? – Meaning that some editors may be overlooking quality articles, simply because they may not agree w/ the blogger.
    3. What IS the real payment schedule & what are the actual payments being made?
    4. What does Demand mean when they will syndicate bloggers content? Does that mean is it a DIY thing where Demand writes up some instructions & says: Bookmark & Ping? Or does Demand actually have a specific, in-house process that they will syndicate existing blog owners content?

I hope you would provide some specifics on these issues, to get people better informed.
Can any of these questions be answered?

  2. Sounds like it might be a good opportunity for many. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out, but Demand Media sites do rank well, so it should be worth some good revenue share if done right.

  3. I agree, it will be interesting to see how this fans out, but it seems like a promising source of blog traffic. Any traffic to a blog, however small is a good thing.

  4. I wrote for Demand Media about six months. I found that the quality of editing and the quality of feedback varied greatly. Many of the editors didn’t know crap about the human body or exercise, and would send articles back for editing for the most ridiculous reasons. Not that the information was wrong, but because they didn’t understand what was written, not having the technical expertise to perform the editing tasks. I finally got so frustrated with the unnecessary re-edits and the downright rejections of quality material I quit. Must say though there were a couple of editors I worked with that were excellent at their job and guided me to “tighten up” my writing and make it much more powerful. I use those skills on my blog to this day.
