Cutts Clears up TrustRank Misconceptions

    December 14, 2007

I know many of you have heard of TrustRank before. Some say Yahoo came up with it first or Google has it trademarked. Well this video of MC explaining what TrustRank is should help clear up a lot of misconceptions:

Yahoo: Wrote paper on TrustRank. TrustRank would be actual physical reputation that could be factored into the algorithm.

Google: At the same time this Yahoo paper was written Google was writing an anti-phishing filter and they just happened to called it TrustRank, but it has nothing to do with what Yahoo was developing.

So it seems their isn’t really any TrustRank formulated into the current Google algorithm? Well maybe…
